Armenia is a unitary state, consisting of 12 provinces (marz).

Armenia is a presidential republic. The President is the Head of State and the Head of Government. The Prime Minister of Armenia is appointed by the President. Ministers are appointed upon Prime Ministers' recommentadion. Executive power is exercised by the government. Legislative branch is represented by the unicameral National Assembly (Azgayian Zhoghov), which consists of 131 members elected on a mixed majority-proportional basis by popular vote to serve four-year terms (90 members elected by party list, 41 by direct vote).
