Education: In 1987 graduated from Leningrad State University Law School; in 1990 completed a postgraduate program at Leningrad State University. Has a degree in Law; Associate Professor.
Career: 1990-1999 - involved in teaching at St. Petersburg State University. Simultaneously, in 1990-1995, served as Adviser to the Chairman of the Leningrad City Council and expert of St. Petersburg City Administration Committee on External Relations.
Nov. 1993 – Director on legal issues at “Ilim Pulp Enterprise” Company.
1998 - elected member of the Board of Directors of “Bratsk lumber industry” Company.
1999 – Deputy Chief of the Government Apparatus of the Russian Federation.
1999-2000 – Deputy Director of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation.
2000 – First Deputy Director of the Presidential Administration.
2000-2001 – Chairman of the Board of Directors of Gazprom; 2001 - Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of Gazprom; Jun. 2002 - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Gazprom.
Since Oct, 2003 - Director of the Presidential Administration.
November 14, 2005 - appointed First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation.
March 2, 2008 - elected President of the Russian Federation.
May 7, 2008 - took office of President of the Russian Federation.
Political and personal contacts: Dmitry Medvedev is indebted to Vladimir Putin for his political career in the Kremlin. In 1990 he worked as an Aide to the Chairman of the Leningrad Soviet Anatoly Sobchak at the invitation of Sobchak’s Adviser Vladimir Putin. In 1991 Medvedev was an expert at St. Petersburg City Administration Committee on External Relations headed by Vladimir Putin. In 2000 Medvedev supervised Putin’s election headquarters.
In the Presidential Administration Medvedev was ranked among the group “piterskie lawyers”.
